Heart of the Foothills

Programs

The work, broken down.

Five programs, one mission. Each is staffed, measured, and accountable.

Program 01

Rural Intake

We accept surrenders and strays from four counties where no municipal shelter exists. Animals arrive weekly, sometimes daily during kitten and puppy season.

Program 02

Spay and Neuter Access

Partnering with two regional vets, we subsidize sterilization for low-income households. Over 600 surgeries last year, preventing an estimated 4,000 offspring.

Program 03

Barn Cat Placements

Not every cat wants to be a lap cat. We match semi-feral cats with farmers who need working cats to manage rodents, saving animals that would otherwise be euthanized.

Program 04

Cruelty Response

We work with county animal control on neglect and seizure cases. When a warrant comes in, we often receive the animals for rehab and placement.

Program 05

Community Food Bank

A free pet food pantry operates Saturdays. A bag of kibble keeps an animal in its home when the family is between jobs.
